For the first time, we are thrilled to welcome winemaker Don Schroeder to our tasting room for an event where you can taste the latest bottlings of Sea Smoke Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, plus the exciting re-release of Botella!

The quality of the Sea Smoke Estate bottlings has undoubtedly increased the notoriety of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA since their first vintage in 2001. When Don joined Sea Smoke in 2003, he worked alongside legendary winemaker Kris Curran and rose up the ranks to become principal winemaker in 2008, and as of 2024 serves as Director of Winemaking. Through each vintage, he has ensured the consistent character, sophistication and complexity of the wines. The 2023 vintage was nothing short of magical -- the long growing season was preceded by rainfall and finished with a warm push toward ripening just before harvest. The result in the 2023 estate wines is a luxurious core of fruit with graceful purity, soaring flavors and the structure and sophistication for an exciting evolution in the years ahead.

Botella was first unveiled in 2001 as an enticing preview of each vintage while Sea Smoke's flagship estate wines patiently came of age. Produced until 2014, Botella was then retired as every cluster of estate fruit became dedicated to Southing and Ten. Now, after a 12-year hiatus, Botella is reborn! Sourced from exceptional neighboring vineyards in the Sta. Rita Hills, these wines feature earlier picks and shorter aging regimes that allow both the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to showcase their bright aromatics and vibrant energy.

Join us for this premier opportunity to taste Sea Smoke Estate and Botella bottlings with Don on Saturday, June 27. Three seatings are available for these educational tastings at 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm (4pm seating is full).

Reservations and a $50 fee are required to hold your seat. This fee can be applied to $350+ bottle purchases at the event.
