About the event
Dave Phinney returns to Taste of Santa Rita Hills for a second year to introduce you to the 2023 vintage of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from his Our Lady of Guadalupe vineyard, his new SRH Acolytes label, AND his Department 66 and Manqué wines from Southern France.
Located on the western-most edge of the Sta. Rita Hills, Our Lady of Guadalupe has developed into one of the premiere, sought-after vineyards from local wine producers seeking to create their own versions of notable bottlings from these windswept grapes. In the hands of the OLG team, the 2023 estate bottlings have grown not just in accolades but also in breadth of offerings. That's right, the OLG Estate Pinot Noir from 2022 that we all loved was a springboard for a Reserve bottling, including 20 barrels of OLG 2023 Reserve Pinot Noir that has gone through an additional 6 months of aging in 100% New French Oak. Together with the coveted OLG 2023 Chardonnay, these wines have garnered 95+ ratings across multiple wine critics.
Our Lady of Guadalupe is the first vineyard that Dave has planted, farmed and cellared. His second project hails from Southern France near the Pyrenees near the small town of Maury. Here the soil is mostly black schist with deposits of granite and limestone. Many of the vines were planted 60 years ago to Syrah and Grenache varietals, that Dave has bottled with the unique creativity that you expect from his label designs. At this event, he will be sharing his Department 66 and Manqué wines -- both of which are rare finds in the U.S.
